ALVARADO, Texas – A Blue Alert has been issued and the FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man, considered the last suspect on the run following an attack on law enforcement outside a North Texas ICE detention center.

FBI Dallas and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said it happened on July 4 around 10:56 p.m., when officers with the Alvarado Police Department were dispatched to the Prairieland Detention Center, a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility.

When officers arrived, they found a suspicious person who appeared to be carrying a gun. As the first officer attempted to talk to the person, multiple suspects opened fire on the officer, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The officer was struck in the neck by at least one bullet. He was flown to a Fort Worth hospital where he was treated and released.

The sheriff’s office said all the suspects attempted to flee the scene, but Alvarado Police and Johnson County deputies were able to take several armed suspects into custody.

ICE says 10 suspects were arrested and are all facing local charges of terrorism, aggravated assault on a public servant with a deadly weapon, or aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer.

On Wednesday, a Blue Alert was issued for the final remaining suspect.

The FBI says Benjamin Hanil Song is wanted for attempted murder of a federal officer, and discharging a firearm during, in relation to, and in furtherance in a crime of violence.

A federal arrest warrant has been issued for Song and he is considered armed and dangerous.
