Katy Taylor High School football coach placed on administrative leave

KATY, Texas – Trey Hermann, the Katy Taylor High School head football coach, has been placed on administrative leave until further notice.

Katy ISD notified parents of the team's players Tuesday that Hermann was removed from coaching duties.

Assistant coach Joe Sheffy will take over the team for the rest of the season.

"Sheffy is a certified, highly experienced individual who is well-versed on the needs of the team," district officials said in a statement.

Katy ISD did not release details as to why Hermann was placed on leave, saying it is a personnel matter and is unrelated to his role with students.

"Katy ISD is committed to its students and will do everything necessary to ensure their continued success during this period," district officials said.
