'Pokemon Go' players attacked with beer bottle, police say

Cops: victims attacked with longboards, beer bottle

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Three men face charges after allegedly attacking a group of "Pokemon Go" players in Kissimmee Lakefront Park early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Kissimmee Police Department responded to a burglary call around 3:30 a.m., where victims said they had been beaten up by a group of males while they were skateboarding through the park and searching for Pokemon.

"They were swinging just wild. They didn't care who they were hitting, who was getting involved. All they cared about was hitting people," one victim, who did not want to be identified told News 6.

According to the police report, the attackers were yelling “discriminating slurs” before stealing two of the victim’s longboards and beating the players with them, punching them and hitting them with a beer bottle.

"I just put my hands up. I guess at one point in time somebody behind me actually swung and hit me. I never felt that. I was just in shock," the victim said.

Officers later found the attackers on scene based off the descriptions provided by the victims, along with the two stolen longboards inside of their vehicle.

The victim News 6 spoke to says he get a black eye. His friend suffered worse injuries.

"They broke his glasses, they cut his eye socket, they cut his eyelid," the victim said. "He actually suffered a broken nose and may need plastic surgery to fix it."

Two of the attackers, Angel Navedo and Gui Do Fasono, face battery charges, and were arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail, both with a bond of $500.

The third attacker, Ivan Lewis, faces charges of aggravated battery and robbery after being accused of stealing the victims’ longboards. He faced a bond of $3,000.

The victims were transported to a local hospital and have since been released.

Police say this is not a hate crime.

'When you have large groups of people in one area sometimes words are exchanged and sometimes those exchanges get physical. That is what happened in this case. This is the first incident we have had. For the most part the players have been friendly with each other," police said about the incident.

A friend of the victims started a GoFundMe page to help raise money to pay for medical expenses. Click here for more information.
