Throughout the month of July, KPRC 2 and our partners at Energy Transfer, Houston Christian University and Exclusive Furniture are collecting items for BEAR (Be A Resource), an organization that helps provide necessities and comfort items for children in the Houston-area foster care system.
When Child Protective Services becomes involved in a child’s life, the child is often leaving a traumatic or troubled home or family situation with only the clothes they were wearing and the items they could grab. The BEAR Necessities room is a first stop for case workers to pick up new clothes, hygiene items, diapers and even comfort items like toys and blankets for a child in need.
BEAR also provides school supplies for children in foster care along with other programs to bring joy on birthdays, over the holidays and for special events like a child’s adoption day.
