Celebrate National Cheeseburger Day with two wagyu patties smashes to perfection at Burger Bodega

Find out why HL co-host Tessa Barrera says it’s ‘everything a burger should be.’

Houston – It’s no secret that Burger Bodega has become one of Houston’s go-to burger spots. The concept is simple: New York bodega vibes, premium smashburgers, and an attention to detail that shows in every crispy edge.

Burger Bodega started as a pop-up and, after strong local support, opened its brick-and-mortar location in November 2022. Owner Abbas Dhanani says the pop-up model let them test the menu, build a following, and refine service before investing in a full restaurant. They’ve also expanded into occasional cheesesteak pop-ups every other Monday. There is a link to pre-order cheesesteaks on their website. Walkups are welcome, but ordering ahead is highly encouraged.

Dhanani says they’re not trying to reinvent the wheel but paper-thin and extra crispy is what sets Burger Bodega apart from other burger spots. Their New York-style smash is pressed thin on a hot cast-iron surface to create those coveted crispy edges.

Inside, the restaurant is designed to feel like a New York corner store with friendly Texas service.
