Here’s How to Enjoy Free Fun and Get Discounts to Events in the lead up to the College Football Playoff Game

HOUSTON – The College Football Playoff National Championship is happening Monday, January 8 at NRG Stadium and in the days leading up to the big game, there are all kinds of events, many of them free, happening around town.

This is a big deal. It is a chance for H-Town to show our visitors some southern hospitality and for Houstonians to celebrate all the fun things like Playoff Fan Central at George R. Brown Convention Center downtown and the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! free concert series at Shell Energy Stadium just next door.

President of the Houston Host Committee, Chris Massey swung by the Houston Life studio to give us the lowdown on the lineup of events. Watch in the video above.

A couple of important things you need to know:

  • You can celebrate and enjoy even if you don’t have a ticket to the game
  • Many events are free
  • Houston Life viewers can get a discount to paid events

The free public events happening this Friday, January 5 through Sunday, January 7 in downtown Houston include Playoff Fan Central and the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! free concert series.

Events with a cover charge include the Trophy Trot which supports Houston area teachers. This 5K /10K race is a paid event for a great cause. Houston Life viewers can use the code KPRC for $5 off entry to the Trophy Trot.

For food lovers the Taste of the Championship has been curated by James Beard Award-winning Chef Chris Shepherd. Houston Life viewers can use the code CFP2024 for $100 off each ticket to Taste of the Championship.

Local funds generated by the Trophy Trot and Taste of the Championship will go to benefit the Houston Loves Teachers campaign.

The National Championship game will be Monday, January 8 at NRG Stadium featuring the Michigan Wolverines and Washington Huskies

Visit campus to register for all events.
