ROSENBERG, Texas – Texas EquuSearch ended the search Saturday morning for a 75-year-old man who was last seen in Rosenberg. Officials said the body of Benito Gutierrez was found in the Brazos River a short time after beginning their search. Volunteers with Texas Equusearch conducted a search near the Brazos River and U.S. Highway 59. Gutierrez was last seen alive Thursday. After the discovery of his body, Texas Equusearch posted an update saying “we ask that everyone please keep Benito Gutierrez’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this tragic times in their lives.”

Heathco was last seen walking on FM 1409 in Liberty County on Jan. 12, according to a spokesman for Texas Equusearch. Officials said they believe Heathco may have been injured in a vehicle crash prior to his disappearance.

Texas EquuSearch founder to drop lawsuit against Galveston County
Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch, tells KPRC2 he is dropping his lawsuit against Galveston County. Miller filed suit against the county in May. The lawsuit came after yet another decades old mix-up with his daughter’s remains was discovered. Miller first sued Galveston County in 1997 when Laura’s body was exhumed and it was discovered not all of her remains had been buried. Miller said he then received a October 2019 from the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office, notifying him human remains were found in a file box bearing the case number for Laura’s murder.

Javonta Boxley was last seen in southeast Houston and his vehicle was found abandoned near Manvel, Texas, officials said. Boxley’s mother, Toya, mentioned that when he left, he was severely depressed. Community boiling with anger over fate of 2-year-old Maliyah Bass; Family meets with Houston activist Quanell X
HOUSTON – A small, makeshift memorial of balloons, flowers and candles could be seen Monday outside the southwest Houston apartment where 2-year-old Maliyah Bass lived. Neighbors who live there were not happy to see Maliyah’s mother and boyfriend return to the property with Houston activist Quanell X. Quanell X met with Maliyah’s mother and boyfriend inside their apartment and said the couple’s story left him with a lot of questions. In 2019, Quanell X helped to bring 4-year-old Maleah Davis’ body from Arkansas back to Houston. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences said they are still working to positively identify the child’s body, though police say it’s a high probability it is Maliyah’s body.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, Kent Zavala and his dog were thrown into the water after a three-vehicle collision on Galveston’s I-45 Causeway resulted in his Jeep flipping over. Both Zavala and the dog were thrown off the Causeway, into the waters of Galveston Bay below. On Monday, Texas Equusearch aided the search-and-rescue effort, even as the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search. Members of Texas EquuSearch have recovered the body of 20-year-old Kent Zavala,” officials wrote.
