Pasadena police have arrested a man in connection with a violent home invasion and the chief said the suspect is also a person of interest in a womanโs death. A person inside was able to fight off the intruder, who got away in the victimโs vehicle but left behind a gun. Investigators determined the gun was one of two guns missing from the home of a homicide victim. Pasadena PD detective dies after COVID-19 battle
HOUSTON โ Pasadena Police Department is mourning the loss of police detective and military veteran, Pedro โPeteโ Mejia Jr., who died Saturday after a difficult battle with COVID-19. โHe was a joy to be around,โ said Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger. โHis sergeant told me there is no way I can replace him just because thatโs who he is.โAccording to the department, Mejia served in the United States Army, where he was deployed on two different occasions. In 2005, Mejia began working at Pasadena Police Department, serving in various roles including uniformed patrol, DWI Task Force, and as an investigator in the Narcotics Division. Last summer, his father died of COVID-19.

Man steals over $41,000 worth of iPads from Deer Park ISD school, sells them on eBay, police say
DEER PARK, Texas โ A Deer Park man has been arrested and charged after police said he stole thousands of dollars worth of iPads from a school in the Deer Park Independent School District. Alexander Garcia was arrested earlier in July after detectives determined he stole over $41,000 worth of iPads from Deepwater Junior High School and listed them for sale on eBay, police said. The Pasadena Police Department said upon activating the iPad, people who purchased the stolen item got a message on the screen that said it was missing from Deer Park ISD. Several victims have been in contact with the Pasadena Police Department and are working to get the devices back to the school so they are available for students come the fall semester. Police are asking for help locating the remaining stolen iPads and โreturning these devices to the district and ultimately to the children they belong with.โAnyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 713-475-7885Garcia is currently out on bond and has not been cooperating with investigators, police said.

In a press conference with activist Quanell X, family members said they wanted the body camera footage of the fatal shooting to be released to the public. After reviewing the footage, Quanell X and Edisonโs family held a press conference. โDonโt give them an excuse to shoot you," Quanell X said. โFrom what I witnessed, HPD, they did fire, but not like the Pasadena Police Department did,โ Quanell X said.
Pasadena police seek 3 people of interest in connection with Monday fatal stabbing
PASADENA, Texas โ The Pasadena Police Department released images of three possible suspects in connection to a stabbing incident Monday morning. At about 5:17 a.m., a neighbor found 34-year-old Luis Reyes bleeding and unconscious outside her apartment at 607 Richey Street, officials said. Reyes died at the scene after sustaining multiple stab wounds to his upper body, officials said. Officials did not name the people of interest but released photos Monday evening.
