Whataburger shared a preview of the 36-card set featuring Texans' favorite menu items on its Instagram account. Voices of Houston: Meet Alice Valdez, a local musician providing art programming for underserved communities
HOUSTON โ For some students in Houston, music, art, dance or theater programming may not always be available in school. Born in El Paso, Texas, Alice Valdez began her music career in elementary school. โMy mother decided that all of us were going to play instruments," recalled Valdez, founder of MECA. All they had was maybe visual art and general music," said Valdez. For more than four decades, MECA has provided artistic programming, educational resources and services to underserved students and adults.

Inside Houstonโs Art Of The World Gallery for Hispanic Heritage Month
HOUSTON โ September is Hispanic Heritage Month, and the Art of the World Gallery is currently showcasing the art of five different Hispanic artists. Voices of Houston: Memoโs Record Shop in East End celebrates Latin music for more than 50 years
HOUSTON โ Guillermo โMemoโ Villarreal, 81, first opened up Memoโs Record Shop in 1968. The East End record store sells different types of music and movies and serves as a musical museum of sorts with some of the worldโs greatest Spanish superstars posing for pictures with Villarreal. โVicente Fernandez, Juan Gabriel, Antonio Aguilar, Rigo Tovar, Lucha Villa and Jose Jose,โ said Villarreal. Villareal has been in the record business for about 52 years and offers a vast selection of different types of music including Mariachi, Conjunto, Tejano and salsa. Before opening his record store, Villarreal was a successful music promoter, responsible for bringing stars like Vicente Fernandez to Houston for the very first time.

The free event starts at 6 p.m. at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts. Fiesta Sinfรณnica will mark Lagunaโs debut at the Houston Symphony. The concert is free to the public. Advanced tickets are sold out and stand-by tickets to the event will be made available onsite at the Jones Hall box office.
