77-year-old man riding bicycle dies in Galveston hit and run crash

GALVESTON, Texas – Galveston Police say a 77-year-old man was killed in a hit and run crash early Sunday morning.

The collision happened in the 2300 block of 53rd Street.

According to Galveston Police, 77-year-old Fidel Estrada was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a white or silver pickup truck, believed to be a Ford, with a ladder in the truck bed.

Witnesses at the scene told police the vehicle did not stop and instead fled westbound on Stewart Road. The witness stayed at the scene and called 911.

Estrada was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
