Fort Bend ISD confirmed Travis High School was briefly placed in a “Secure Hold” status Friday as law enforcement responded to the school.
The district released the following statement:
Fort Bend ISD can confirm that Travis High School was briefly placed in a “Secure Hold” status earlier today. This precautionary measure was implemented while local law enforcement responded to an off-campus incident that may have involved a few students. Although the situation was not related to the school, officers coordinated with campus administration as part of their investigation.
At no time were students or staff in immediate danger, and the campus remained under the supervision of administrators and district safety personnel. Classes quickly resumed, and the school day continued without disruption. We want to reassure our community and media partners that all district safety protocols were followed.
A “Secure Hold” is a safety procedure in which all students and staff are brought inside the building, exterior doors are secured, and no one is permitted to enter or exit the campus until the situation is cleared.
Back on Oct. 28, Missouri City police said two suspects were also taken into custody for murder connected to the shooting. We have learned one of the two individuals detained that night was Jordan Dao. He was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon, but bonded out of jail. He was suspected of being involved in the murder, but there was not enough evidence at the time to charge him with murder. Since then, enough evidence has been collected to charge him with murder and he was rearrested Friday.
The other person detained at the time has been released and police have determined they were not involved in the murder.
