PORTER, Texas – A witness’s call to law enforcement led to a gruesome discovery Wednesday afternoon in Porter, where a couple was found shot to death at a property.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the witness called after seeing a man and woman physically fighting inside a blue Chevrolet pickup truck near FM 1314 and SH 99.

Deputies with the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office later located the truck in the 20200 block of Duester Lane in Porter.
Inside, they found the bodies of 41-year-old Kevin Doak and 28-year-old Victoria Yates, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
MCSO Major Crimes Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, and the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate. Sky 2 Chopper captured aerial footage showing investigators at the property.
Preliminary findings suggest the shooting may have been a murder-suicide.
“MCSO Major Crimes Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, and the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and conducted an investigation into the deaths. Although the investigation is currently ongoing, preliminary details indicate a possible murder/suicide, and there is no threat to the public,” the sheriff’s office said.
