HOUSTON – The U.S.-Mexico Border has been a contentious topic across political aisles but even more so lately with how to handle new arrivals.
Governor Greg Abbott has been especially vocal regarding border security, frequently calling out the Biden-Harris administration for their mishandling of immigration and its impact in Texas.

Abbott is expected to hold a news conference Monday to announce ongoing border security efforts. Details on the announcement are unclear, but a news release from the governor’s office says the efforts are a response ”to the Biden-Harris Administration’s reckless open border policies that have allowed dangerous criminals to enter our country illegally.”
The governor will be joined by dozens of federal, state, and local law enforcement leaders including Texas DPS Director Steve McCraw , Houston PD Chief J. Noe Diaz , and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks.
Back in July, Abbott called out Vice President Kamala Harris during her Houston visit saying he wrote a letter a few years ago imploring her to visit the U.S.-Mexico Border. In his July message, the governor said in part she: “has refused to see up close the millions of illegal immigrants that her Administration allows to cross the border illegally” and “has never bothered to respond to my letter or even trouble herself to see the border crisis that she helped create.”
