Can you imagine living in your home without power for three weeks? That’s what one Nederland woman had to do, until 2 Investigates got involved.
Roffi Prestil has essentially lived on her front lawn since Oct. 29, when Entergy turned off her power.

The company demanded a $212,000 installment on an $848,000 electric bill.
Here’s the catch: Prestil’s bill was supposed to be $848, and Entergy was supposed to put her on a payment plan requiring $212 for four months.
Somehow, extra zeroes were added.
“They won’t even look at the piece of paper,” she tells us. “All of that back and forth. We’re going to do a work order. I call to check up on it, nothing. Then they show nothing’s in the computer. There’s no notes about any time I call.”
Prestil did what you’re supposed to do:
- Call the electric provider about the issue.
- Call or click the Public Utility Commission
- Call or email 2 Investigates
Luckily, 2 Investigates had more luck than Prestil. Hours after contacting the station, her power was restored.
Entergy sent the following note to 2 Investigates from an “Entergy Texas spokesperson”:
“At Entergy, we care deeply for our customers and their well-being. Ms. Prestil contacted us in September to request a payment plan, and our team worked with her to set up a payment plan that felt manageable for her. After the plan was set up, a confirmation letter was sent to the customer which clearly had the incorrect amounts displayed. The actual bills and disconnect notices sent to the customer displayed the correct amounts. Our team is reviewing the source of the error on the payment plan confirmation letter.
“We are working directly with the Ms. Prestil, and our customer service team has restored her power while we address the incorrect amounts reflected on the letter. We remain committed to supporting our customers, improving their experience, and providing reliable, responsive service.”
“If you just settle for things like this, then these agencies and these companies are going to get away with this stuff all the time,” Prestil said.
