Houston – The South Texas Unit of the Herb Society of America is gearing up for its 52nd Annual Herb Fair, a free community event that brings together gardeners, makers and food lovers from across Houston. The fair features locally grown herbs and plants, handmade goods, and educational demos the whole family can enjoy.
Event chairs Angela Roth and Stephanie Calloway joined us on Houston Life to share all the ways herbs can be used daily. Like in vinegars. Infusing vinegar with herbs can be a great detox and immunity booster. Herbs are a way to level up the antibacterial properties of vinegars
On the show they demonstrated a blueberry port vinegar drizzled on goat cheese baguettes, dressed with a fresh basil leaf. These vinegars can be used in salad dressings as well. That way, you can limit your salt and sugar intake compared to store-bought dressings.
In baking, herbs can be used in savory and sweet dishes like this lemon verbena orange cake.
Visitors can shop for culinary blends, wellness products, seasonal crafts, and more while learning how herbs play a role in cooking, health, and everyday living. All proceeds support the organization’s year-round educational programs and community garden efforts.

For those hoping to shop before the big rush, $25 pre-sale vouchers are available now and include 30-minute early entry plus credit toward plants and products at the fair.
