Houston – Just in time for National Vodka Day this Saturday, a new brand is making waves in the spirits world. Weber Ranch Vodka, crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave, is changing the way people think about vodka.
Master distiller Antonio Rodriguez and mixologist Elman Rivera joined Houston Life to share how the unique spirit is crafted and why agave sets it apart from traditional vodkas, which are typically distilled from grains, potatoes, or grapes.
“Agave takes it [vodka] to another level,” Rodriguez explained. “It’s a higher-quality material that takes about seven years to grow. That time creates a complexity and richness of flavor that makes the vodka smoother and easier to enjoy.”
The harvesting process is no small feat. Blue Weber agave must be harvested entirely by hand, a meticulous job that requires trained workers to carefully select each plant.
Weber Ranch also has a strong connection to Texas. While the agave is grown and harvested in Jalisco, Mexico, the final distillation process takes place in Munster, Texas. Using copper stills, the vodka is slowly distilled over 24 to 26 hours, creating its signature smooth taste.
Of course, no launch would be complete without cocktails. Rivera showcased two Weber Ranch cocktails.

Rivera is the lead bartender and mixologist at Mayahuel restaurant near Autry park. The concept is inspired by Mexico City, and the partnership between them and Weber Ranch was a natural fit.
But Weber Ranch isn’t just about what’s in the bottle. The company has launched a tech-savvy twist with its new AI-powered cocktail assistant, “Tex” by texting #SaddleUp or #AskTex to 940-400-1902. Tex can help with recipe ideas, ingredient substitutions, batch instructions, and more. You can even take a picture of your fridge or pantry and he’ll take care of the rest.
“It’s like having a bartender in your pocket,” Rivera said.
