Saxophonist Dave Koz returns to Texas with Summer Horns Tour and stories from a star-studded career

HOUSTON – Nine time Grammy nominee Dave Koz is headed back to Texas. Hell be hitting the stage at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land on Friday, August 1st, for ‘Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns 2025.’

The tour, which includes dates across North America and will also make stops in Spain and Brazil, features an ensemble of musicians hand-selected by Dave.

He will be joined on stage by Marcus Anderson (saxophone), Jeff Bradshaw (trombone), Leo P (baritone sax), Evan Taylor (trumpet), and Marcel Anderson (vocals).

“I’ve been doing this for over 35 years and I feel very fortune and very blessed to have had this career,” said Koz, who signed with Capitol records in 1990.

Dave’s ensemble often features young musicians, who are just starting their careers.

“I love being a champion for the next generation, and we need it,” he added, underscoring that many musicians just need exposure, opportunity and mentorship to carry the torch and keep the tradition of jazz music ignited.

The Jazz icon has appeared on ‘Houston Life’ many times over the years, including back in 2016 during the show’s first season at the Galleria.

Dave chats with Houston Life’s Derrick Shore about their decades-long friendship and the misspelling mishap that happened during one of his career highlights: the day he got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

When he’s not traveling the globe on tour, Dave is likely planning his next sold-out cruise adventure, or at home in Los Angeles with his pup, Buddy.
