From FedEx to Luby’s, meet Houstonians whose careers are powered by purpose thanks to Pursuit Center

HOUSTON – A Houston institution known for breaking barriers and building futures is celebrating an incredible milestone this weekend.

Since 1950, Pursuit Center has been a place of hope for thousands of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

What began as a farmhouse classroom on Bissonnet is now a place that transforms lives through education, employment, healthcare, and community.

Pursuit center is a leading nonprofit in Houston dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism, and similar conditions.

For 75 years, the organization has provided essential services-from job placement and residential living to healthcare, education, and recreational programs.

Pursuit center helps people of all abilities live meaningful, independent lives by offering the tools, support, and opportunities they need to thrive in the community.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary, City Hall will be lit in blue, green, and white this weekend in honor of this milestone.

Watch as CEO, Charles Njuguna and two of the center’s members Whitney Leis and Kennedy Broussard share how the Pursuit Center helps these individuals live independently, grow personally, and contribute meaningfully to society.
