HOUSTON – If you’re looking to do a little spring cleaning or decluttering around the house this weekend, Shred Day Houston can help you responsibly dispose of sensitive documents.
Shred Day Houston is a one-day shredding event that is free to the entire community. It is designed to help raise awareness about identity theft prevention, promotes the importance of recycling and provides support to Houstonians facing hunger.
All paper from Shred Day Houston will be turned into pulp and recycled after being securely destroyed. There is no limit to the amount of paper that individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits may bring for shredding, however, large loads may be redirected to a nearby Iron Mountain facility.
Bring bank statements, receipts, credit applications, pre-approved credit card offers, cancelled checks, old income tax returns, old medical records, utility statements and any other sensitive documents.
Do not bring MOLDY OR WET PAPER, 3-ring binders, clips, hanging file folders, electronic storage media (thumb drives, CDs), liquids, plastics or trash. Be sure to keep any original documents you cannot recreate digitally.
This event also will help shred hunger. The Houston Food Bank will be on-site to collect cash and credit card donations, as well as nonperishable food items.
The 12th annual Shred Day Houston will be held Saturday, April 5th, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Comerica Bank Mangum Banking Center (2201 Mangum Road, Houston, TX 77092).
