Houston – AEW Star Thunder Rosa, one of the toughest women in professional wrestling, is getting ready for another action-packed show as AEW presents Collision. Before she heads to the Fort Bend Epicenter, she stopped by Studio B for a great chat with co-hosts Derrick Shore and Tessa Barrera.
Known for her resilience and fearlessness, she discussed her journey, the significance of her Mexican heritage, and the challenges of life on the road.
AEW Star Thunder Rosa, a former AEW Women’s World Champion and a trailblazer in the industry, is not just known for her battles inside the ring but also for proudly showcasing her cultural roots. Born in Tijuana, Mexico, her journey to success took some turns. She initially pursued a career in social work, studying sociology at University of California Berkeley before helping young people with mental health issues, homelessness, and substance abuse. It wasn’t long before she realized her passion for wrestling.
After making the bold decision to pursue professional wrestling full-time, she says she knew establishing her place in an industry that has often been dominated by men was not going to be easy.
Her determination paid off when she became the first-ever Mexican-born champion in All Elite Wrestling.
AEW Star Thunder Rosa reflected on her unique presentation in the ring, including her signature face paint, which she says honors those who weren’t able to live out their dreams. Thunder Road was the name of the behavioral center she worked for during her time in the Oakland, California area.
“My duty now as a professional wrestler is to remember those who are not here, that were not able to live their dreams. And now I’m living my dream. So every time I’m there in the ring alive, it’s it’s a way to say thank you to all the Thunder Army behind me because I didn’t come alone in the ring.”
AEW’s Collision takes place tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. at the Epicenter in Rosenberg. Click here for tickets!
AEW Star Thunder Rosa left Shore and Barrera with an inspiring message stating that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, adding “we have to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Things are going to be difficult and are going to be against us but just remember you can do this.”
