Bronco Power Boost offers solution to Houston’s power outage woes

HOUSTON – In Houston, some people have found a way to peace of mind during storms, thanks to the right backup power system. While not everyone can install a whole-home generator, Bronco Power Boost offers an innovative solution.

Founder and CEO “Bronco Billy” Whittaker of Bronco Power Boost explained that the company was created to address the needs of those who face challenges in obtaining permits for whole-home generators. These challenges often include “lot line issues, easements, or noise ordinances.”

Paul Grabowski and his family live in a townhome in Houston’s Memorial Park area. Before installing a Bronco Power Boos Bronco Hybrid System, permitting obstacles meant they had to forego a home generator and endure outages and the multitudes of cables they had to run through the house in order to have any power at all during a storm. “After the Derecho and Beryl and running cords throughout the house, I was done,” Grabowski shared. He had been searching for a reliable system and found it in the Bronco Power Boost’s new hybrid solution.

This hybrid system enables homeowners to keep essential appliances, including central AC and heat, running during outages. Now when there is an outage, Grabowski opens his garage to neighbors when the neighborhood loses power. “For where we live, this has been the perfect setup for us,” he noted.

Despite a busy storm season, the threat of power outages remains a concern for many in Houston. From 2000 to 2023, Texas led the nation in significant power outages, and that does not include the 2024 season and the outages experienced in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
