HOUSTON – Houstonians get ready for two days of bull riding action at Toyota Center this weekend when Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) Unleash the Beast thunders into town this weekend, January 17-18.
The Texas Rattlers and Austin Gamblers, two of the top teams in PBR league, are gearing up for a thrilling rivalry game at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The event, part of the PBR Unleash The Beast series, will take place on January 17, 2025, featuring the first-ever Texas Cup matchup between these two championship teams.
The Texas Rattlers, 2023 PBR Teams World Champions, and the Austin Gamblers, reigning 2024 champions, have established themselves as dynasties in the league’s short history. The rivalry game is part of the Monster Energy Team Challenge, presented by Camping World, which will showcase one rivalry game during select nights of the Unleash The Beast events for 15 consecutive weeks leading up to the 2025 season.
The Rattlers, led by PBR Co-Founder Cody Lambert, and the Gamblers, coached by PBR legends Michael Gaffney and Adriano Moraes, will compete in a head-to-head showdown. The competition will consist of six riders from each team attempting one bull each, with the team achieving the highest aggregate score winning the Texas Cup. The event will also contribute points to the riders’ standings in the Unleash The Beast event and the 2025 World Championship.
The rivalry between the Texas Rattlers and Austin Gamblers is among the most intense in team bull riding. Texas currently leads the all-time series 7-6, with both teams having claimed victories in previous seasons. The Rattlers reclaimed the series lead in 2024, despite the Gamblers’ success in dethroning them as World Champions.
Following the Houston showdown, the teams will face off again on March 28 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and April 18 in Nampa, Idaho.
