A guide to a night out in Houston’s historic Third Ward

HOUSTON – A night out in Houston Southeast is a lot of fun, but with thousands of restaurants to choose from, it is hard to know where to start!

Southeast Management District board member Sharone Mayberry of Mayberry Homes took Houston Life’s Melanie Camp on a night out on Almeda Road for a taste of the fun.

The night out on Almeda Road began at 4402 Almeda Road at a location with near legendary status - McQueens Custom Tailor - because no night out should start without a good outfit.

Learn about this business that has been part of Houston Southeast for 25 years in the video here:

Head to the Reggae Hut at 4814 Almeda Road for authentic Caribbean flavors. Their jerk chicken wings fall off the bone, and whole cooked snapper melts in your mouth, fresh and flavorful. Check out the full feast in the video above.

If you want strong cocktails, a good “Sunday Funday,” a Thursday steak night, and great live music, head to Bar 5015 at 5015 Almeda Road. Their Legends Only concert series has seen the likes of Nelly, Kid ‘n Play, and Kid Capri!

No big night out is complete without a late-night bite, and at 4501 Almeda Rd, you’ll find food trucks, including Chitalian Pizzeria, Big Poppa Jerk, and Hibachi Bros. at 4501 Almeda Street. Watch more in the video above.
