6 quick and easy Halloween makeup hacks: no costumes required!

Houston – HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 👻

This Halloween, you don’t need a full costume to embrace the spooky season—just a few clever makeup tricks and some household items! Thanks to TikTok, the hacks have been going viral for good reason.

Houston Life producer Javana and co-host Tessa Barrera tried out six easy and festive looks, perfect for anyone wanting to add a bit of Halloween spirit with no costumes required. The following looks are perfect for busy people, parents heading out for trick-or-treating, or anyone in need of a last-minute Halloween look.

Look #1: Spooky spider web

You will need...

1. Eyelash curler or something with a straight edge.

2. Translucent powder

3. Black eyeliner (liquid or pencil)

4. Black eyeshadow

OPTIONAL

1. Face gems and fake spider

2. Lipstick

Dip your eyelash curler in the translucent powder to create an easy outline for your web. You can also put the eyeliner directly on the curler, then stamp it around the eye area to create a web effect. A few quick swipes with an eyeliner brush to connect the lines and you have a fuss-free web. Use black eyeshadow to smudge out the web and this is optional but, use face gems or a fake spider to complete the look.

Look #2: Devilish horns

You will need...

1. Eyelash curler

2. Red lipstick

This one is easier than it looks! Use the eyelash curler dipped in red lipstick to create a half-moon shape above your eyebrows. Flip the curler and do it again to create the horns. Fill in the horns with red lipstick. You can add a devilish tail if you need to add some extra flare. Use the same red lipstick on your lips, and boom! You’re ready to create some mischief.

Look #3: Toothpick skeleton

You will need...

1. Toothpick

2. Black eyeliner (liquid or pencil)

3. Black eyeshadow

4. The cap of something

5. White eyeliner pencil or shadow

OPTIONAL

1. Lipstick

To channel a skeleton’s spooky style, grab a toothpick! This look is all about using lines and minimal makeup to mimic a skeletal grin. Put eyeliner or shadow on the circular cap of something and stamp it on the center of your nose to create the skeleton nose.

Look #4: Bloody scratch

You will need...

1. Fork

2. Red lipstick

3. Black or brown eyeshadow

4. Eyelash spoolie

Use a fork to create a realistic scratch mark with a fork and red lipstick. Lightly press the fork against the skin where you want the scratch marks, then apply lipstick for that “freshly clawed” effect. This hack is perfect for adding a bit of edginess in no time!

Look #5: Ghost buns

You will need...

1. Hair tie

2. Hair elastic

3. Tissue

4. Black marker or eyeliner

For these boo buns, use tissue paper! Wrap small pieces of tissue into the base of each twisted bun. Use black eyeliner or a marker to create ghostly eyes and a mouth. This is so simple It’s a simple, low-effort way to add some haunting charm to any outfit.

Look #6: Braided cat ears

You will need...

1. Three hair elastics

2. Hair straightener

OPTIONAL

1. Black eyeliner (liquid or penicl)

If cat-like looks are more your thing, these braided cat ears are for you! Separate two small sections of hair on each side, braid them and secure them with a hair elastic. Pull the top braid up and then use your hair straightener to squeeze the top braid to make a pointy cat ear. If you have some spare time, add a little eyeliner nose and whiskers, and you’ve got yourself an instant cat costume.

We hope you try out these low-effort looks and have fun!
