HOUSTON – The countdown is on for the 2024 Texas Renaissance Festival, which begins on October 12. This year, the biggest Renaissance Festival in the nation celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Houston Life’s Melanie Camp met with the King to discover what was in store for this year’s event.
“We are very excited. We started in 1974. Our founder and first king, George Coulam, came to this spot, and believe it or not, this was a strip mine,” explained the King.
Over the years, the Texas Renaissance Festival has evolved and grown. The old strip mine site is now home to a lush forest that hugs a medieval village of 400 shops busy with artisans and performers.
Thousands come from all over the country to be part of the extravaganza that runs over eight weekends starting October 12 and running through to December 1
