HOUSTOON – We now have the third named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season: Tropical Storm Cristobal.
Cristobal formed over the northern Atlantic Ocean and is moving quickly eastward at 25 mph (41 km/h). The good news is that it’s staying over open water, and there are currently no tropical storm watches or warnings in effect.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h), with higher gusts. Cristobal is expected to gradually weaken over the next couple of days and is forecast to dissipate by Thursday.
Overall, Cristobal is not expected to impact any land areas and will likely remain a storm to simply monitor as it moves across the open Atlantic.
