HOUSTON – Widespread showers and thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall across the Houston area Monday, triggering multiple flood advisories and causing street-flooding.

Monday was round one of three. More widespread storms are expected Tuesday and Wednesday. Here’s the timeline and totals.

Tuesday morning: Heavy rain expected during the commute

Another round of thunderstorms is expected to develop Tuesday morning, affecting the morning commute.

Not everyone will experience heavy rain at the same time, but storms will again be capable of producing intense rainfall over a short period. Localized street flooding will remain possible, especially where rain falls over neighborhoods that received significant rainfall Monday.

Give yourself extra time before leaving home, check road conditions and never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Below is the futuretrack at 7:00 AM.

7AM Tuesday

Tuesday afternoon and evening:

Showers and thunderstorms will remain widespread through early Tuesday afternoon. Slow storm movement could allow heavy rain to linger over the same locations, increasing the possibility of street flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Clouds and rain will keep Tuesday cooler, with afternoon high temperatures only reaching the mid-80s!

10 Day Forecast

Storm coverage will taper off Tuesday evening, and Tuesday night is expected to be dry.

5PM Tuesday

Wednesday’s Forecast:

Another round of thunderstorms is expected Wednesday, and there is another flood threat. Heavy rain could again lead to street flooding, especially in areas that receive repeated storms or are already saturated from earlier rainfall. Timing is different than Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday morning should be mostly dry with storm arriving in the afternoon.

10 Day Forecast:

Rain chances drop sharply late this week as a hotter and drier pattern settles in. Highs climb into the mid-90s Friday and this weekend, then reach the upper 90s toward the middle of next week.

And because of the rain the humidity will be incredibly high this weekend. Hope you can find a pool or a place to stay cool because the heat index is going to be high!
