Spotty showers Good Friday, but storms return Easter weekend along a cold front

Strong to severe storms are possible Saturday, with a big cooldown to follow for Easter Sunday

Friday’s forecast:

Friday will bring another round of spotty showers, this time they could reach Houston. Widespread rain isn’t expected until Saturday when the cold front arrives. That’s the period to watch, as the heaviest rain and strongest thunderstorms are likely in the evening hours.

The good news is that it looks like almost all the rain is out by Easter sunrise service time. There may be some light rain along the coast, but the rest of us should be dry.

Sunday evening showers return mainly near the coast. By Sunday night, waves of rain move through all of SE Texas. It doesn’t look extremely heavy, just steady.

Whatever your plans are Sunday, make sure you dress for the cool. Temperatures range from the 50s in the morning to 60s in the afternoon with a strong north wind. And with the clouds it will feel colder than the actual temperature.
