Warm, humid conditions stick around Houston with potential for afternoon rain showers

Expect a typical June afternoon

Friday will be a very typical June day! ,

We will see temperatures climb through the 80s into the lower-90s by the heat of the day. When you add in the humidity, it will feel closer to 100 in the afternoon.

Friday’s Forecast:

There is a chance for afternoon showers and storms; however, these will not be severe. Instead, expect pop-up storms with heavy downpours and frequent lightning strikes.

Summer Solstice

Friday is also the first day of summer! The summer solstice falls this year on June 20th, which means it is our day with the most sunlight! Sunrise is at 6:21 AM and sunset is at 8:24 PM, allowing for over 14 hours of daylight!

Weekend Forecast:

Through the weekend, we will continue to see a very typical June pattern. Our normal high this time of year is 93, and every day you can expect highs to top out in the lower-to-mid 90s with high humidity making us feel like the triple digits. Thunderstorm chances will be isolated in the afternoon every day through Sunday.

No wash outs this weekend

10 Day Forecast:

Next week we will see storm coverage increase, so instead of isolated storms it will be more scattered in nature. We’ve put a 40% chance for all of next week. The Houston Pride Parade is now on our 10 day forecast!

Headed for more rain chances next week

Tracking the tropics:

The National Hurricane Center is not watching any regions in the Atlantic Basin for tropical development over the next seven days. Saharan dust continues to dominate the open waters helping us stay hurricane free.

No development is expected in the next seven days. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)
