HOUSTON – The last couple of weeks have been pretty dry! Before Easter weekend, the last time Houston had rainfall was the first weekend of April.
As of Easter weekend the weather pattern flipped, and strong storms marched across SE Texas Easter Sunday. We’ve continued to see active weather as we entered into Monday, as a line of storms formed ahead of the cold front early this morning.

The cold front that caused these storms to pop continues to slowly push the line of storms closer to the coast - where several of them have had Special Weather Statements issued as well as Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.

Unfortunately, were not out of the woods just yet. Easter weekend was the start of the active weather week we’re going to see during the last full week of April, so keep the umbrellas and rain boots on hand!
Here’s what we’re looking at:
- Once our current system finally shifts out to the east, we still have the potential of seeing shower and storm activity for most of Monday. This will mainly be down by the coast.
- A little shortwave low works its way in behind our slow-moving front. This system will bring another chance of showers and storms for Tuesday mid-morning to afternoon as well as for Wednesday.
- A third, late-week system slides in, continuing our rain chance to close out the work week and begin the last weekend of April.
One thing to note, is that it won’t be a consistent rain that will last all day.
We keep rain chances going into the weekend - although they are low right now.
We finally get a break from the rain as we get into the back half of next weekend.
If all of these gloomy and rainy days have you down, here’s a bit of positivity: April showers bring May flowers!
