HOUSTON – As the Houston Rodeo nears, the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is a must-see event.

Starting Thursday, Feb. 27, and lasting through Saturday, March 1, 250 BBQ teams will be lighting up their grills to cook up and compete for the best brisket, chicken, ribs, dessert and an open contest.

How will the weather impact this year’s cook-off?

A cold front will slide through SE Texas Wednesday night, but it will help make us more comfortable - especially those who are manning the grills!

A small chance of rain is possible on Thursday, with mostly cloudy skies. Humidity will lower and there will also be more of a breeze, so it should help keep those BBQ-ers cooler! Temperatures will be a gorgeous 70 degrees!

Friday won’t be much different from Thursday, except for less cloud cover and no rain chances. Winds shift back to the south by the evening hours and humidity will rise overnight.

By Saturday, you’ll notice more humidity when you fire up those smokers. We warm up slightly from Thursday and Friday, but we also add in more cloud coverage! The extra shade should help keep the grillers on a slightly cooler note after three days of grilling!

All in all, after the Arctic blast we had last week, we are welcoming some nice spring-like changes to the forecast to kick off the pre-Rodeo events!
