The Stormtracker 2 Weather Team will be tracking showers and some scattered strong to severe thunderstorms that move across the area on Tuesday.

Here’s a breakdown of the timing and what to expect when:

Tuesday Afternoon (1p-4pm):

Most of the early afternoon hours will be manageable scattered small showers. Most of these won’t cause much trouble, aside from having to hit the windshield wipers from time to time.

Notice as we get into the early afternoon commute hours, some of those showers have begun to get stronger with more atmospheric instability, meaning, a quick thunderstorm or two can fire up creating a mess to drive through.

Tuesday Evening (5pm-10pm):

The evening drive/out-and-about folks will be the ones who really will see the bulk of the storms as the front begins to drive through SE Texas.

While the threat of these downpours turning severe is small, it’s not nothing. Meaning, a quick inch of rain or some strong winds can be possible in any bigger cluster of storms.

Ask 2: Is it okay to turn on your hazard lights while driving in inclement weather?

If the timing holds, anyone out during the hours of 5-8 p.m. will need to be ready to slow down or take a little extra time to get to your destination.

While the cold air is moving in, the storms will be moving out.

We should see most of the storms push east into Louisiana by 10 - 11 p.m. and then, we’re just waiting on a cold and very windy Wednesday morning! Be ready for it!
