Thursday’s Messy Forecast:

Thursday is going to be a cold, cloudy and wet day across SE Texas. We are forecasting the freezing line to be well to the north of us. This means we will only see cold rainfall.

If the freezing line drops south, we could see a wintry mix (freezing rain/ice) as far south as Madisonville. We’re not anticipating that we’ll see any accumulating ice, however, conditions could become a little slippery in the overnight hours.

7AM Thursday

Rain chances will increase into the afternoon. By lunchtime we will see hit or miss showers. Temperatures will be in the upper-30s and lower-40s making it a very uncomfortable afternoon.

Noon Thursday

We will see the rain chances increasing through the day, especially as we approach the evening commute. This will mainly be cold rain showers, but a few isolated thunderstorms are possible. We are not expecting any severe weather.

6PM Thursday

A steady moderate rainfall is expected to move in for the overnight hours. This will be a cold, nearly constant rainfall which means we could see street flooding. Temperatures will be in the upper-30s at night.

There is a risk for heavy rainfall that could lead to street flooding. The risk is highest for those south of I-10. This means you will need to plan for extra time on the roads on Thursday. We’ll be monitoring the threat for a few inches of rain

The best chance of seeing flooding and heavier rainfall will be along the coast and south of US 59.
