Ask 2: Why was the Southwest Freeway dark for months?
HOUSTON – Question: Why was the Southwest Freeway dark for months?
Answer: The Texas Department of Transportation knows all of this work hasn’t been easy on drivers, but the lights on the Southwest Freeway are back and working again.
Crews have been working on maintenance repairs on the Southwest Freeway between Wilcrest Drive to Beechnut Street. Workers installed all 34 new high mast poles including the two additional poles added in to prevent dark spots along this stretch of highway. Right now they’re re-setting ground boxes as needed and taking out the old high mast pole foundations near Beechnut Street.
