HOUSTON – The city of Houston is working overtime to catch-up on the heaps of garbage, recycling and heavy trash sitting on curbs, as the winter storm that swept through this week halted service. “I have been talking directly to solid waste. Click here for the latest updates and pick-up schedule from Houston’s Solid Waste DepartmentResidents in the Ridgemont neighborhood, which is outside of Beltway 8 near Fuqua Street, reported problems with garbage collection on Friday. The neighborhood is filled with overflowing garbage and recycling bins, and plenty of heavy trash debris from damaged homes lining the curbs. There were also many apartment complexes in this high-density area of southwest Houston with overflowing dumpsters and trash strewn across parking lots.

HOUSTON A resident of the Heights neighborhood in Houston said her a dead-end in her neighborhood has been a dumping ground for garbage that isnt welcome. She said the garbage is creating a hazard for reisdents who live nearby but said she is struggling to be heard. Cheri Goodwin lives near Maxroy Street and Hurst Street in the Heights. "There's these big beautiful trees and a lovely little park area, and as I walk down [Hurst Street]...I could see [sofas]!" She hopes the garbage will be cleaned up and that it is maintained.
