HOUSTON โ€“ Although scientists still donโ€™t know exactly what causes psoriasis, stress is a well-known trigger, according to the National Psoriasis Foundation. โ€œ[Theyโ€™re] stressed, maybe theyโ€™re not eating as well, so itโ€™s all tied together, most likely,โ€ Mehta said. Food intake doesnโ€™t cause psoriasis, but it could be the cause of inflammation, which doesnโ€™t help. She says increased handwashing during the pandemic wonโ€™t affect psoriasis patients as much as eczema patients, so thatโ€™s less of a concern. Even the fumes can cause skin problems among people who have sensitive skin.
