Investigators said both vehicles spun out of control, then a third vehicle hit one of the spinning cars, which caused the spinning car to hit a guard rail. Investigators said the man went flying and a Precinct 4 deputy constable accidentally crashed into him in the road. It is unclear if the man was killed in the initial crash, the impact of landing in the road or the impact with the deputy.

HOUSTON – A car split in half in a deadly accident in northwest Houston Wednesday night, police said. Police said a man died in the accident and they are investigating whether he was street racing at the time. According to officers, a witness told them a Honda Hatchback was racing another vehicle when it veered off the road and ran into a tree. The victim, a man in his mid-20s, was thrown from the car and died at the scene. The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on the North Freeway at Rankin Road in north Houston, authorities said. Deputies initially thought the driver of the Mazda was a woman, but later clarified to say the driver was a man. They were properly restrained and only suffered minor injuries, deputies said. Both children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.

CROSBY, Texas – A construction worker has died after authorities said he was hit by a passing vehicle in the Crosby area. The incident happened before noon on Friday in the 13700 block of the Crosby Freeway, authorities said. According to deputies, the man was putting out construction cones on the freeway entrance ramp when a driver lost control of her vehicle and hit him. Deputies said the woman thought she was having an epileptic seizure and went off the road, fatally hitting the man. Authorities said the victim is believed to be around the age of 50.

The accident happened around 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway at Bay Area Boulevard, according to the Webster Police Department. Authorities confirmed a person was hit by a vehicle, but they did not say what caused the accident. The Houston Police Department initially said that a person was killed in the accident. All main lanes in the area were shut down as investigators and crews worked to clear the scene.

HOUSTON – The driver of an 18-wheeler is dead and empty beer cans are scattered all over the road after the truck crashed in north Harris County. Deputies said the accident happened around 3:45 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the North Freeway at FM 1960. The driver of the 18-wheeler lost control of his truck and crashed into a guardrail before going into a grassy area and hitting a tree, deputies said. Authorities said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and the impact sent him through the windshield, landing in the outside lane of the North Freeway. “The impact of the tree sheared open the tractor portion of the 18-wheeler and unfortunately the driver was not restrained by a seatbelt,” said Sgt.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a man was traveling the wrong way on the service road when he struck a car with a woman and infant.
