For many newlyweds, the memory of their wedding day is immortalized through photos and videos. But for at least 15 couples in Houston, those cherished memories are still out of reach—two to three years after their weddings.

The couple from the Phoenix area had trusted their Houston travel agent, Sunita Hedaoo, for years and relied on her to plan previous extravagant international trips.

Rodriguez said the venue has given her nothing but the runaround after they emailed her that the place had closed. She turned things around by reimagining how events needed to look in order to be safe, offering boxed appetizers and buffets protected by a six-foot Plexiglas screen. Other businesses are also adapting in order to stay afloat. Craig Barbour, owner of Roots Catering and Little Fete, adjusted as well. “All you have to do is a little bit of warming, a little bit of stirring maybe,” he says of his new offerings.

Why not spread the love, said bride Melanie Tapajna. We paid for it already so were like we might as well donate it, Tapajna shared just before entering Lauras Home with her groom. After marrying a Chechen fighter she ran his household and used social media to urge a friend in Germany to join IS. Following the first husband's death she married a fellow German IS member in October or November of 2015 and moved to the group's stronghold of Raqqa. German prosecutors say the couple occupied the home of someone who had fled from IS, which would amount to looting or pillaging under international law and is considered a war crime. She was detained in Turkey in February and arrested on her return to Germany in May, where she now faces trial.

HOUSTON – A shooting that left a groom injured on his wedding day Thursday is under investigation, Harris County sheriff’s deputies said. Deputies said the shooting happened in the 16800 block of Anna Green Street around 11:26 p.m. Deputies said the victim had a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported via Life Flight in critical condition. BIHAR, India More than 100 people attending a wedding in India tested positive for COVID-19, including the groom who died two days after tying the knot, Indian newspaper The Times of India reported. The couple planned to get married in December after the baseball season. However just a few months later, their plans – like many other couples’ – hit a snag thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. A hospital in Delaware helped organize a wedding for one of its terminally ill patients and his fiancée. South African couple, Hector Mkansi and Nonhlanhla Soldaat had their dream wedding December 31, right in time for the new year, after a video of their proposal went viral in November. Mkansi, 37, proposed to Soldaat, 28, midway through their meal at a KFC restaurant in South Africa. Since the video was posted by a Twitter user in November, the video has been shared more than 25,000 times using the hashtag #KFCProposal. KFC South Africa provided a wedding planner and Uber and Audi offered to help the couple get around on their honeymoon. South Africans later jumped in with offers to help pay for the couple's wedding jewelry, spa treatment, and home furniture.

Authorities say it was actually a scheme to commit fraud through the popular wedding website The Knot. Vermyttya Miller, 38, was sentenced to five years in county jail after she attempted to scam the wedding planning website twice in 2016, the California Department of Insurance said. Authorities said Miller filed an insurance claim using falsified medical reports and received a $10,000 check from Tokio Marine. "Insurance fraud is a felony with serious penalties and consequences. CNN has reached out to Tokio Marine and the Vallejo Police Department for comment.
