Vaping is coming before the Supreme Court next week as federal regulators ask the high court to uphold its block on sweet, flavored products following a spike in youth e-cigarette use.

A state law which went into effect in September 2023 increases the penalties for students caught with vape products.

House Bill 4758 officially becomes a law in January 2024.

The penalty for vaping in Texas schools just got a lot harsher. Starting, Sept. 1 any student caught on school property with a vape will have to go to an alternative school program.

NEW YORK Vaping rates among U.S. teenagers fell dramatically this year, according to a federal report released Wednesday. That marks a dramatic decline from a similar survey last year that found about 28% of high school students and 11% of middle school students recently vaped. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conducts the national survey of more than 20,000 middle and high school students. It asks students if they had used any vaping or traditional tobacco products in the previous month. CDC officials gradually focused their investigation on black market THC cartridges, and on a chemical compound called vitamin E acetate that had been added to illicit THC vaping liquids.

She said one explanation on why these teens are catching the virus more frequently is because of the aerosol expelled when vaping. Just being around someone who is vaping, if they have coronavirus, could increase their risks, McGee said. Dr. McGee said, socially the early 20-somethings tend to act the same as pediatric patients and therefore have the same risks.
