The Texans have gone beyond the exploratory phase for potential new looks for their uniforms, which involves seeking opinions on colors, jersey and helmet design.

As part of our Ask 2 series, the newsroom will answer your questions about all things Houston. The question: Are kids required to wear school uniforms this year? The answer: Uniform policies vary by school, and some have changed them due to calendar adjustments amid the coronavirus pandemic. Some public charter schools, such as YES Prep and KIPP Houston will require uniforms for the 2020-2021 school year for students choosing face-to-face instruction. Houston ISD announced on July 24 that it will not require students to wear uniforms, according to the districts Family and Community Engagements Twitter page.

Students attending school in Houston ISD this year won’t have to wear a uniform. The news was posted by Houston ISD Family & Community Engagement on Twitter and retweeted by the district. The district recently announced the first day of school has been postponed from Monday, Aug. 24 to Tuesday, Sept. 8, and all students will engage in at-home virtual instruction through Friday, Oct. 16.
