The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the 8200 block of Scott Street. The officer was traveling northbound on Scott Street in her patrol vehicle when a southbound driver failed to yield to the officer and attempted to make a turn, ultimately striking the patrol vehicle, according to an officer at the scene. The officer sustained a minor injury to her right leg in the impact and was transported to an area hospital as a precaution. The civilian driver complained of minor head, back and neck pain, according to an officer at the scene.

The shooting was reported about noon in the 4700 block of Clover Street, near Cullen Boulevard. Houston police say the teen was playing basketball with other teens and young adults in the street outside a friend’s house. When the group went indoors to rest for a minute, witnesses told police that the teen slapped his pocket with his hand and a pistol he had in his pocket went off and killed him. It is unclear who owned the gun or why the teen was carrying it, officials said.

According to Houston police, 9-year-old Romello Carter went missing about 10 a.m. from his home in the 8100 block of Bowen Street, which is near the intersection of Scott and Hondo streets. Romello was found safe about 5 p.m. Thursday and was reunited with his family, police said.
