September is Hunger Action Month, and Second Servings Houston is preparing for Hunger Action Day which is tomorrow.

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets and Second Servings of Houston came together to serve over 1,000 families Thursday. Presented by Kroger, “Thanksgiving’s on Us” is a contactless drive-thru distribution that focuses on providing perishable and non-perishable Thanksgiving-themed items to Houstonians in need for the holiday. “We know Thanksgiving will look different for so many Houstonians this holiday season,” said Rockets Community Relations Director Sarah Joseph. “This is like a blessing for the community and to give a Thanksgiving meal to a family means so much,” said Sharon Houston. This year marked the third food distribution between the Houston Rockets and Second Servings of Houston.

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets and Second Servings of Houston are hosting a “Thanksgiving’s On Us” food distribution tomorrow, just outside of the Toyota Center at 1317 Austin Street. There’s an increased number of families affected by food insecurity and hunger. This marks the third food distribution between the Houston Rockets and Second Servings of Houston. Those interested in donating to help Houstonians in need this Thanksgiving can text SERVINGS to 50155. All donations will go toward Second Servings’ mission to fight hunger and reduce food waste in Houston.

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets and Second Servings teamed up Thursday to give out thousands of free meals at the Toyota Center. “They’re helping us and I’m helping her.”The Rockets and Second Servings were distributing 28,000 take-home, chef-prepared meals. “It’s all hearty comfort food, delicious meals,” said Kristen Torrez, of Second Servings. Each box contains eight meals and each car gets two boxes -- 16 meals for every family, plus milk, chips, cookies and packaged salads. We’re all in this together.’”The food distribution was set at noon Thursday.
