The U.S. Chemical Safety Board has released an update on their investigation into the deadly gas release that happened at the Deer Park PEMEX facility in October.

A joint lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the family of Jose Wilfredo Perez Jr., a contractor who died in a fatal hydrogen sulfide gas release at the PEMEX Deer Park refinery on Oct. 10.

The highly-flammable and toxic gas killed two people and 35 others had to be treated at the Pemex facility in Deer Park.

Mexico's taking control of its oil from U.S. and British companies is taught in schools and celebrated every year.

The resignation marks an end to the decades-long career of Carlos Romero Deschamps, once considered one of the most powerful and corrupt figures in Mexico. AdThis week, the beleaguered oil company has reportedly reached a deal with the state-owned electrical power utility to offload stocks of fuel oil that Pemex can't get rid of. The utility will take the heavily polluting fuel oil to burn at power plants, and return natural gas that Pemex cannot produce enough of.
