(AP) – Kristie Mewis had a goal and three assists and the Houston Dash beat the North Carolina Courage 4-1 in the National Women’s Soccer League fall series Sunday night. After Lynn Williams scored for the Courage to avoid the shutout, Shae Groom scored the final Dash goal in the 83rd minute. The Dash (2-1-0), who hadn’t ever defeated the Courage, close the fall series next week against the Orlando Pride in Kissimmee, Florida. ATSUGI Womens World Cup winner Yuki Nagasato is joining Japanese mens club Hayabusa Eleven on loan from the Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL. The mens team plays in an amateur regional league that is several levels below the countrys top pro soccer league, the J-League. Nagasato, who won the Womens World Cup with Japan in 2011, joined Chicago in 2017 after playing in several other leagues. It was very inspiring to hear the social message about gender inequality and other messages that Rapinoe was trying to deliver during the (2019) World Cup, Nagasato said. For over a decade shes been telling me that her ultimate dream is to play in a mens team, Genki Nagasato said.

HOUSTON – Now that Kealia Ohai and J.J. Watt officially tied the knot earlier this month in the Bahamas, Mrs. Watt decided she will be sporting her new last name with her new soccer team, the Chicago Red Stars. Her husband, the Houston Texans star defensive end, shared a photo on his Instagram of what the jersey looks like. The former Houston Dash star will also be replacing her previous jersey number, 7, with the number 2. The jersey, priced at $105, is now available on the team’s website as one of its newest additions. “This means there’s now one more Watt running around dominating stadiums,” a fan commented.

HOUSTON – The Houston Dash have traded soccer star Kealia Ohai to Chicago. Ohai leaves Houston after six seasons with the Dash in which she made 114 appearances and started 108 times. “I want to thank the entire Houston organization and the wonderful fans for my last 6 years as a Dash player,” Ohai said. Naughton joins Houston after being a key part of Chicago’s backline throughout their 2019 NWSL season run. With this transaction, the Dash now have 19 players on their active roster ahead of the 2020 NWSL season.
