A new movie will begin filming in Conroe in mid-April and its production company is seeking extras to fill out its scenes. The film is described as a “mind-bending story exploring the themes of friendship, love, hope, faith, and redemption” and centers around a writer who was in a car accident. “The Author is a labor of love, carefully crafted over a decade, produced with a specific purpose,” wrote screenwriter Ritchey Cable on the film’s website. “The viewer is invited to enter into the story and engage with some of life’s most puzzling questions.”Couples or individuals interested in becoming extras for the film can register here. HOUSTON – ‘MOXIE!’ is about a shy 16-year-old who publishes an anonymous magazine calling out sexism at her high school. After the magazine is read by all of the students, it sparks a school-wide coming-of-RAGE revolution. Hadley Robinson and Alycia Pascual-Peña star in the Amy Poehler-directed film, and they’re chatting about the importance of making your voice heard. HOUSTON – Have you ever had a case of deja-vu that lasted…forever? ‘The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things’ starring Kathryn Newton and Kyle Allen was just recently released, and it’s currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The story starts with an introduction to Mark, who is perfectly content living the same day in an endless loop. His world is turned upside-down when he meets the mysterious Margaret, who is also stuck in the same loop. According to the website, “What follows is a love story with a fantastical twist, as the two struggle to figure out how —and whether —to escape their never-ending day.”The film’s stars Kathryn Newton, Kyle Allen, and Jermaine Harris chatted with Lauren Kelly about what it was like to be stuck in the same day forever.

HOUSTON – The Moonstruck Drive-In Cinema at East River is the original EaDo Drive-In Movie Theatre, and it’s the city’s first and only permanent drive-in movie theatre and event venue. Houston Cinema Arts Society has partnered up with Sundance Film Festival to host the 2021 Sundance Satellite Film Festival starting today through February 2. As one of the only three 2021 Sundance Film Festival world premiere locations in Texas, Michael Robinson, Marketing and Communications Manager for Houston Cinema Arts Society told us this is an event you don’t want to miss. The Moonstruck Drive-In Cinema will accommodate up to 150 cars, making it one of the largest satellite locations in the country. During the screenings, food and beverages will be available for contactless purchase from popular local food trucks and nearby establishments.

HOUSTON – The 1940 Air Terminal Museum is hosting a drive-in movie showing Saturday ahead of Halloween. The museum, located at Hobby Airport, will show the movie “The Blob” starring Steve McQueen in his debut role. The museum is encouraging attendees via a Facebook event post to purchase their ticket in advance as they have a limited amount of space available so COVID-19 protocols and social distancing can be followed. Guests can also continue enjoying Rooftop’s popular $5 “Community Screenings” every Sunday where 100% of the proceeds are donated directly to the Houston Food Bank and the Black Lives Matter organization. For a late-night-date-night Sunday through Thursday, the venue offers $20-per-vehicle tickets (for 2 people) for all 10-11 p.m. screenings.
