CONROE, Texas – Authorities said a monthslong investigation led to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with an indecent exposure incident on Lake Conroe that happened in April. The Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office said 68-year-old William Guins is accused of exposing himself to a 19-year-old girl. The girl told authorities Guins asked her if she needed a ride, and when she looked up, she realized he was completely naked so she immediately left. In May, about a month after the initial incident, the victim was back on the lake when she saw Guins again. On Aug. 11, the victim told authorities Guins had parked his boat near where she was parked and had gotten into the water all while watching her.

LAKE CONROE, Texas – The family and friends of a young woman are in mourning after she drowned just hours before her 21st birthday, deputies said. At approximately 6:35 p.m. on Sunday, deputies said the Montgomery County Dispatch received a call about a drowning that had just occurred on Lake Conroe in the Atkins Creek Cove area. Deputies said Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Lake Division, Conroe Fire Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Montgomery County ESD 1 responded to the call and began to search for the woman. This is the second drowning that has occurred on Lake Conroe this season. Constable Cash encourages everyone who uses the lake to “Be Sensible, Be Safe” and wear a life jacket when on or in the water.

Investigators said around 4 p.m., a group of friends was on a boat just off East Beach on Lake Conroe. CONROE – More than 1,400 residents from the Conroe area attended the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) special meeting at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center Thursday to discuss and vote on the temporary flood mitigation strategy of lowering Lake Conroe on a seasonal basis. Those who live along lake Conroe generally pushed against the lowering of Lake Conroe. They won’t put it on the tour any longer.”Those who lived downstream, south and southeast of Lake Conroe, as near as River Plantation, and as far as Kingwood, were for the lowering of the lake. For the fall lowering, the SJRA recommended that the process should begin Aug. 1 and lower the lake by 200′ MSL and then again beginning Sept. 1, lowering the lake to 199.5′ MSL. This was the final amended proposal which SJRA is now asking the City of Houston to consider.

The new property featuring 335 luxurious guest suites with panoramic lake views will be operated by the global hospitality company Benchmark. “The Margaritaville lifestyle brand is one of the hottest in the country, and Texas is a prime market for it,” said Songy Highroads’ chief operating officer Todd Nocerini. “The fact that the lakefront resort is an easy drive for residents of the state’s four largest markets only adds to the excitement and potential pool of guests.”The resort at Lake Conroe will be set on 186 lakefront acres. The property will include a three acre lakefront water park with a lazy river and outdoor pools.
