PEARLAND, Texas – A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday in Pearland. According to Pearland police, officers were responding to a call of a person being held at gunpoint by her neighbor. Wells said that arriving officers encountered an armed man who refused to follow the officers’ orders. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two firefighters were injured Saturday morning while battling an apartment fire in Houston’s Gulfton neighborhood, officials said. The fire was first reported around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Glenmont Drive, near Alder Drive. Two firefighters were injured while searching for civilians in the building, Wells said. “It was covered in smoke,” Wells said. Everybody worked really really really hard.
