Texans will vote on a large menu of constitutional amendments Tuesday.

Isaiah Martin, a University of Houston graduate and the youngest candidate in the race for Texas’ 18th Congressional District, says it’s time for a new generation of leadership in Washington. Leaning on his experience as a former advisor to the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Martin says he’ll focus on lowering the cost of living, expanding health care, and securing federal funding for local communities.

Voters in the heavily Democratic district have expressed confusion about who can vote — after the boundaries were upended by a GOP gerrymander — and what November’s special election is for.

With several candidates lined up to represent the district, which has remained unseated since March, the results from the survey further demonstrate how heated the race has become.

Congressional candidate Isaiah Martin was arrested at the Texas State Capitol during a protest against alleged illegal gerrymandering involving Governor Greg Abbott and former President Donald Trump.

The lawsuit alleges the congressional candidate failed to pay the firm $200,000. Isaiah Martin, who recently announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas’ 18th Congressional District, is now facing a lawsuit filed by Grassroots Analytics, Inc.

Following the passing of U.S. Rep. Sylvester Turner, the race for Texas’ 18th Congressional District is heating up as candidates step forward to fill the seat.

This will be the second time Martin has run for the seat but faces Harris Co. Attorney Christian Menefee, who was endorsed by late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee's daughter and serves as his campaign's chairwoman.
