Houston Roughnecks corner Damon Arnette, a former Las Vegas Raiders first-round draft pick from Ohio State, is making the most of his second chance as he seeks a return to the NFL.

The XFL team is heading to the playoffs with a big matchup tomorrow against the Arlington renegades.

HOUSTON – The XFL is coming back, thanks to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The actor, producer and retired wrestler teamed up with Redbird Capital and became the only bid to purchase the bankrupt league before the auction was slated to begin, according to NBC Sports and Sportico. The group paid $15 million for the league, split evenly with Johnson’s business partner and ex-wife, Dany Garcia. [Johnson, Garcia and Redbird Capital] are the best possible ownership group for the exciting journey ahead,” XFL President Jeffrey Pollack, who oversaw the sale process for the league, told Sportico in a statement. There was no word on when the XFL will make a return.

Walker has found a home in the NFL. The Houston Roughnecks quarterback, who was the early contender for the league’s MVP, has signed with the Carolina Panthers per ESPN’s Dianna Russini. It’s not Walker’s first stint in the NFL, as he previously learned from Andrew Luck and Jacoby Brissett during his time with the Indianapolis Colts. As the Roughnecks quarterback, Walker wowed fans each week, leading the league with 1,338 yards and 15 passing touchdowns. Walker will be reunited with the Panthers’ first-year coach Matt Rhule, who coached Walker in college at Temple.

HOUSTON – This win didn’t come easy for the Houston Roughnecks. Down 14-0 in the second quarter, a touchdown from Nick Holley puts Houston on the board. Houston gained their first lead, 26-23, in the fourth quarter thanks to Phillips. The Roughnecks win came in front of a season-high 19,773 fans at TDECU stadium. Running back James Butler took an opportunity in Week 1 and turned it into a regular role. Rising starWhen the Roughnecks released the team’s initial training camp roster, Butler wasn’t on it. Butler then had a workout with the Green Bay Packers, before finally settling on playing in the XFL. The league has given players like Butler and Walker the opportunity to show NFL teams game tape they might not otherwise get in limited pre-season action. Butler is currently fourth in the league in rushing yards with 130, playing in an offense that prioritizes passing.

The Roughnecks return to action this Sunday at home when 1-0 St. Louis comes to town at 5 p.m. Rockets hit the All-Star breakThe Rockets will close out with the Boston Celtics Tuesday night before the NBA All-Star break arrives. The win came at LA against the Lakers followed by a blowout loss at Phoenix and a buzzer-beater home loss Sunday night to the Utah Jazz.

HOUSTON – A former Houston Texans player says he is coming back to Houston to play for the Roughnecks XFL this season. Charles James II was a cornerback for the Texans in 2016 before he was waived from the team’s active roster. Coming back to Houston to play for the @XFLRoughnecks this season!
