When Galib Chowdhury lost his job with the Houston Police Department and was given a prison sentence for shooting his wife in the face, it proved people were straying away from the stigma and listening to growing conversations about domestic violence.

Investigators said Galib Chowdhury's wife told medical staff it wasn't an accident and showed texts he allegedly sent his wife shortly before the shooting that included: “Wow, sh*t wife" and “Pick up, b****...I need to know ETA.”

The officer said he heard an unrecognizable voice outside his front door and thought someone was trying to break in when he grabbed his rifle and started shooting, accidentally shooting his wife.
